summer inspiration


because rafael nadal is too busy and so famous to even bother returning my calls (hahahahahaha. chos!), i am shifting loyalties and crushing in  on olympic swimmer nathan adrian. see how gorgeous he is? he recently created a stir when he defeated olympic sensation michael phelps in a competition even if his speedo was ripped.

"A split bathing suit couldn't hold back Nathan Adrian at the Indianapolis Grand Prix. The 2008 relay gold medalist overcame a tear in his bathing suit to win the 100-meter freestyle over a stacked field that included Olympic legend Michael Phelps.
While crouching on the block before the start of Thursday night's final, Adrian felt a tear down the middle of his rear. His tight-fitting Speedo FS3 had split, leaving him with an exposed backside and considerably more drag than he'd have liked.
Adrian dove in anyway -- "what could I do?" he said. The rip didn't have an effect on the result. He touched the wall in 48.62, more than one-tenth of a second ahead of a hard-charging Phelps. That time was good enough to be the 11th-fastest time in the world this year, but likely would have been considerably faster had the suit not split."
isn't he just adorable and humble too? oh he totally had me at "what..."

summer always reminds me of well toned boys swimming in their tiny speedos or short shorts on the pool, beach or river. certainly, none of them looks as fabulous as nathan. just look at the boyish smile and the, ah, wet, tanned torso.

filipino women on the verge of.....greatness

the year two thousand and thirteen is proving to be a great year for lovers of philippine cinema. after a good harvest at the cinemalaya in late july to early august (please click  here  to read about some of my cinemalaya reviews),  came the sineng pambansa national film festival all-masters edition (whew!) and the first cinefilipino film festival. the last two festivals, held one week apart in september, also featured films that were beyond the ordinary. if vilma santos heralded the cinemalaya festival, her erstwhile rival as queen of philippine cinema nora aunor was clearly the biggest come on of the cinefilipino festival. coincidentally (or not!), if ms. santos' entry at the cinemalaya festival, ekstra, was the top grosser in terms of box-office receipts, ms. aunor's ang kwento ni mabuti likewise earned the most among the cinefilipino entries. so whoever said that both actresses' luster at the box-office had diminished through the years is probably hallu
