a prelude to an actual james franco post

(there seems to be a james franco craze going around recently, which is not surprising since he will be headlining several films this year including oz and spring breakers. plus he is busy with several artistic endeavors, so while i am preparing a post solely for him, i am reposting this one. hang on. be patient dahlins! remember, patience is a virtue. what can wait won't actually kill you. ano daw?!)

it's raining outside. relentless, stubborn rain.
i feel a tad sad.
the rainy weather always brings out the dramah queen in me.
i feel like crying for no reason at all.
speaking of sadness, this poem (scroll down to read and weep) always makes me blue just like the beatles' norwegian wood. while i don't fully fathom it's meaning (i am not intelligent so i don't get all the metaphors and symbols hidden in each word), i could feel the poet's pain while putting words into his feelings.

We make our meek adjustments,
Contented with such random consolations
As the wind deposits
In slithered and too ample pockets.

For we can still love the world, who find
A famished kitten on the step, and know
Recesses for it from the fury of the street,
Or warm torn elbow coverts.

We will sidestep, and to the final smirk
Dally the doom of that inevitable thumb
That slowly chafes its puckered index toward us,
Facing the dull squint with what innocence
And what surprise!

And yet these fine collapses are not lies
More than the pirouettes of any pliant cane;
Our obsequies are, in a way, no enterprise.
We can evade you, and all else but the heart:
What blame to us if the heart live on.

The game enforces smirks; but we have seen
The moon in lonely alleys make
A grail of laughter of an empty ash can,
And through all sound of gaiety and quest
Have heard a kitten in the wilderness.

******

by the way,  gorgeous james franco (he of the literary elite) has made a movie titled the broken tower based on the life of poet hart crane (the one who wrote the above poem, in case you did not notice), an alcoholic who lived a decadent lifestyle. he committed suicide by jumping from a ship on his way back to new york in 1932 at the age of 32. how dramatic and tragic!
this is james franco's second movie about a gay poet. he also starred in a film about allen ginsberg (not to be confused with the former fed chairman alan greenspan) in howl, fueling speculations that he is also gay. duh!

here is the trailer of howl:

allen ginsberg was known as the founder of the beat generation (goggle dahlins to learn more about the beat generation and who were the other gay poets and writers that were part of this). he was hailed to court for publishing howl, a longish poem about homosexuality and drug use, among other taboo subjects.
kalurkish!

what about norwegian wood? you ask. here it is. keep on reading, bored ones.
every time i hear norwegian wood, i wanted to cry. maybe that's the reason why i so luv haruki murakami's novel with the same title.  i've read the book three times already. yes, it's my favourite among murakami's works. i haven't seen its movie adaptation yet, but never mind.
here is norwegian wood, the song:
