of books

in between dating, haunting, bouts of insomnia, meeting friends,  nursing a hang over with massage and two glasses of bloody mary at staunton, watching movies at ifc and pacific place, dvd hunting, updating my wardrobe and cruising in the river styx, i still find time to read books, i mean novels. chos! a lot.
i have never read this much for as long as i can remember. ah the price of being luvless..but i am not complaining. this goddess needs to feed her peanut-sized brain once in a while..hahaha.

now reading:

(reading it again to prepare for the movie adaptation with keira knightley and directed by joe wright.)

so far i have finished these (oh please, no bragging rights intended):

(re-read the book, watched the movie. problem solved.)

(as usual mr. white's prose is gorgeous. but the story is a humdrum. i still prefer his a boy's own story.)

(mr. hollinghurst never disappoints. his prose is poetry in disguise -- elegant just lyk most of his characters, lush, rich and delicious. it's lyk watching a merchant ivory film or a bbc classic on teevee. now i want to read again his previous books.)

(i can totally relate to mr. orwell. my version would be, down and out in makati and malate.)

(my third time to read this murakami masterpiece. the movie adaptation by french/vietnamese director tran anh hung (the scent of green papaya) was equally stunning, especially the cinematography and the locations!)

(a favourite. i always read it every time i feel down and out just like mr. orwell. i hope they won't turn this into a movie just lyk that disastrous adaptation of luv in tym of cholera...)

(set in an italian villa in the late 60s, when the young ones engaged in free luv, dope and endless sex. i was born too late, darn!)

(my second time to read this. i read it four years ago when i was stranded at a singapore airport. sadly, her other book, gourmet, was not as interesting.)

(i luv banana's writing style: melancholic, sad, short, sweet and simple. leaves you craving for more.)

(all things pinoy and pop, i luv! her sense of humour never fails to amuse me. reading her prose is like talking with her while having coffee and doughnuts.)

(supposedly based on the life of a certain u.s. first lady. a good follow up to her earlier hit, prep.)

(ok, i have a thing for martin at the moment. he is my author for this season.)

(i have seen the film with matthew goode and emma thomson. i didn't like it. the book is way better than that movie. surprisingly, mr waugh, the famous brit writer, is not gay (kidding!).)

(a hard to read book. mr. burroughs style is dizzying. but satisfying in the end..though i feel blah afterwards..)

(another tough to read from david foster wallace -- i know, i know, i haven't even finished yes his infinite jest. but it's such an intimidating book! ok, all his books are intimidating and hard to finish, especially those lengthy footnotes. gosh!)

(one of the best reads so far. i luv tengo, fuka-eri and aomame..a mix match of murakami's beluved previous works.)

(my least favourite in the bunch. a mediocre read. i don't know why everyone's raving about it...)

(trippy and weird. just lyk her other book - a visit from the goon squad which i luv!)

(always a pleasure to meet up with  holden who hasn't grown up after all these years just lyk me.)

(a catcher in the rye permutation...can't wait for the movie with the delectable ezra miller!)

(got a bit lost..will read again. julian barnes' prose though is glorious..)

oh well, lowell..that's all!
have a great mid-week to all of you bitches, angels and witches!

(all the pictures were taken from the internet, so please don't sue the poor, indigent me.)
