bring sexy back to basketball

one stormy sunday afternoon, while the rains were falling heavily from the sky, blanketing the whole city with dark clouds (punctuated by the scary, ear shattering thunder), i was looking at pictures of cute basketeers. trying to keep my mind occupied to fight boredom.
no, i know nothing about the sport. i haven't played it, not even once. i just don't like the idea of going after one ball, running from one end to the other, while trying to grab the ball from the one holding it, or prevent him from taking a shot at the basket.
it's totally, lyk, boring. what makes it exciting, of course, are the cute, sweaty, muscled guys roughing it up inside the court, outmachoing each other.
but i noticed that through the years, the jersey shorts have become so unsexy - loose, long and unshapely. totally unlyk the days of jaworski and atoy co, when it was really short, fit and sexy: the better way to display those long, shapely, smooth or hairy legs. i luv!






now that's what i call shorts.

what happened? did the mtrcb and the conservative but powerful few (you know who you are) intervene and ordered the philippine sports agency to lengthen those shorts and make them looser and more gp? how unsightly di ba? so, what's the term again,  jologs.
i am sure if they (whoever has the say on this matter) shorten the length further, it will not only be pleasing to the eyes, i bet more people will watch the games not only on tv but at the coliseum too.
although those long socks should go as well. haha.
and while i am at it, may i suggest they hire the talented michael cinco to design the uniforms? to make them not only sexy but world class as well.
as my favourite economist as well as finance minister used to say - "it's a win-win situation for everyone."

filipino women on the verge of.....greatness

the year two thousand and thirteen is proving to be a great year for lovers of philippine cinema. after a good harvest at the cinemalaya in late july to early august (please click  here  to read about some of my cinemalaya reviews),  came the sineng pambansa national film festival all-masters edition (whew!) and the first cinefilipino film festival. the last two festivals, held one week apart in september, also featured films that were beyond the ordinary. if vilma santos heralded the cinemalaya festival, her erstwhile rival as queen of philippine cinema nora aunor was clearly the biggest come on of the cinefilipino festival. coincidentally (or not!), if ms. santos' entry at the cinemalaya festival, ekstra, was the top grosser in terms of box-office receipts, ms. aunor's ang kwento ni mabuti likewise earned the most among the cinefilipino entries. so whoever said that both actresses' luster at the box-office had diminished through the years is probably hallu
