world war three is upon us (or reminiscing the good old disco days!)

while counting the days till super powers russia, china, germany, japan and the united states finally call it "check mate", thus triggering another world war, the third in a hundred years, i decided to reminisce about the glory old days of disco. remember the disco? where a shiny, metallic (ok silver) ball, emitting lights of various colours, merrier than the rainbow,  dances in a circle all night long. non-stop, like a god watching over her drunk, tipsy, high minions in a psychedelic mood.

all these horrible and happy thoughts, interfacing each other like winter and summer, extremes, i know, while watching whit stillman's love letter to that era, the days of disco. what else?

&&&&&&&&&&&&

ahhhhhh.....

so dearly miss those days - getting drunk, high and then go dancing all night.

somebody please reinvent the disco again?

i so miss dancing to dancing queen, disco fever, disco inferno, i love the nightlife, it's raining men. freak out le chic. funky town. ah the list is long, it could cover the whole universe. twice over! chos.

recently i watched whit stillman's witty and smart the last days of disco - and had a blast reminiscing those days. not that i have been to studio fifty four (i wish i were born during those days), dancing all night with gloria vanderbilt (the famous socialite mom of anderson cooper), truman capote, andy wharhol, calvin klein and his muse the young brooke shields.

chloe sevigny and kate beckinsale are simply marvelous in the film. especially chloe. i so love her - her eyes and lips, the way she moves, talks and dresses up. she is a goddess. sexy and naive at the same time. full of contradictions.

i love the part where she is trying to seduce the then hottest heartthrob rorbert sean leonard's character and uttered this line, while trying to look sexy by dancing and drinking pernod.

"there's something really sexy about scrooge mcduck."

lovely!

one of the funniest scenes.

i hope stillman makes more movies.  we need more of his metropolitanbarcelona and last days of disco. enough of those silly comic  books and twilight permutations.

let's bring back truly lovely, and if i may add, intelligent movies.

and yes, the disco!

so ladies and pa-ladies, let's take out those shining, shimmering, splendid, albeit, tacky outfits!
