it's time to wake up!

“a dream you dream alone is only a dream. a dream you dream together is reality.” - jonh lennon.

forgive me for sounding like morpheus in matrix. but, it's time to stop dreaming, all the neos out there. it's time to take the pill: blue or red? make your choice. and do it now. time is running out!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we want an honest bureaucracy, decent government, statesmen in public service then we should work hard for it. let's stop waiting for the next messiah to come around, let's demand for it now.

everybody says we have a president who listens, the son of edsa heroes, then let's make him listen. if his eyes are closed, let's open them. if he pretends to be asleep and still dreaming like the rest of us, let's wake him up.
for he might be our last chance for salvation. (the rest of the politicians eyeing the next national elections are, sad to say, more of the same -- pigs waiting to be roasted. my apologies to the swines in the animal kingdom.)
this might be our only chance to cure the ills that have been plaguing our country, that hindered its march to progress.

corruption in the government is not unique to the philippines. every country had struggled or is struggling to stop it. hong kong once faced the impossible of weeding out the corrupt in the bureaucracy, but the former british colony succeeded. look at it now. despite the problems of rising rent and higher cost of living, it is still one of most livable cities in the world, definitely far, far better than manille: efficient public transport system, higher wages, lower taxes, clean and orderly streets, overall safe environment, thriving economy, trustworthy police, and helpful bureaucrats.

of course we can't blame some of us for giving up too easily. after all, we had been burned not just once, twice, but three times already. we ousted the dictator, but look what we've got. more of the same government officials that served the dictator. we ousted a former movie star on charges of graft, but we got an even worse one.

it's disheartening.

but this is not the time to give up on our dreams. even better, this is the time to stop dreaming. this is the time to act.
we have shown what we are capable of doing and achieving as a country. accomplishing the seemingly impossible -- getting rid of the conjugal dictatorship who occupied the halls of power for two decades, for one -- we can certainly do a lot more if we work together and put our hearts into it.
the spontaneous combustion that was edsa two and more recently, the million march to luneta this week only highlighted the kind of people that we are: decent, honest, hardworking, compassionate, disciplined.
let's not stop there.
let's continue until the last corrupt in the government is put to jail. until every cent of taxpayers' money is fully accounted for and goes to where it should be: uplifting the plight of the poor, providing basic services, building infrastructure.
after all, as this president once shouted: walang mahirap kung walang kurap.
