the comfort for a few

still mourning the loss of my pocket camera (it was cheap, but it was priceless), i suddenly remembered that i promised to post photos of my recent adventure in a luxurious hotel in makati.
anyway, as you already know, i and fabulous friend -- who will host an event next year to be attended by some of the biggest names in banking and finance in the region and beyond -- checked out the suites at the newly-opened raffles hotel.
now we all know that raffles spells luxury. i had stayed at their singapore hotel in my past life and it was heaven on earth. i didn't want to go home after covering an event.

&&&&&&&&

anyway, enough of the dramah. it won't win me a pulitzer or a nobel. but who says i am aiming for one? a bafta would be enough. haha.
here are some of the photos of the suites suited for a queen. or a princess wannabe for that matter.
let's start with the cheapest one. i forgot how much it costs to own this for a day. is it twenty three thousand pesos a night?

the window at the tiny living room opens directly to the bedroom.

the artworks on all the rooms are by filipino artists. i forgot who painted these (i am not into art. ok, contemporary art. lower those eyebrows please).
but they are pretty.

i would love to have some of them in my temporary shelter.

the one above is very ernest hemingway.

^^^^^^^

every room has a huge flat screen samsung teevee and dvd player. isn't it grande? i luv samsung, by the way. i had a forty two inch one at my hong kong flat. chos.

this one sits opposite the king sized bed.

&&&&&&&

the bathroom has a very elegant tub. i can just imagine myself staying there for hours, reading a murakami while dinking wine and listening to the beatles's norwegian wood. or adele's cover of  the cure's haunting lovesong.
it also offers a view of the nearby hotel and mall. so you won't get bored while washing.

the his and hers sinks (or in my case, mine and his).

a cozy corner where you can plug your macbook and catch up on facebook or write your news article while lover boy sleeps in the room, or is busy watching a fellini or two. double chos!

gorgeous, isn't it?

&&&&&&&&

now on to the more expensive suite. if i remember it right, this one's for thirty three thousand pesos a night. the living room is bigger and there is a dining table that can sit around eight people.
the bedroom is also roomier, though the size of the bed, i think, is just the same as the one in the less pricey suite.

the living room, as seen from the dining area. note the huge samsung flat teevee.

a better view of the living room. see the pretty lamp? i luv it. philippe starck? could be.

i luv the enormous sofa. perfect for cuddling while watching amelie on blue ray.

the dining table, right in the living room.

a cozy chair, right next to the living room. i like the umbrella stand. nice, homely touch.

*************

the room has pretty mirrors mounted on the wall.

this one's in the bar area, where you can mix your favourite poison or gorge on cappuccino.

the table on this one is to die for. i want to take it home. haha.

the closet, which leads to the bathroom.

the sink masquerading as a cabinet. i luv!

and finally,

the toilet and bath. so huge. it's almost the size of my flat in hong kong. haha.

*********

take note, every suite comes with a personal butler or two. how's that for a privileged life?

)))))))))))))))

ah, the suite life. reminds us that while the air that we breathe is free, comfort is not.
