the goddesses of mt hollywood
and so the goddesses from the gold, glass and ivory tower that is mt hollywood descended into earth to grace, pose, prance and do the catwalk at the most watched, highly anticipated red carpet show, the ohh so lively circus that precedes the often times boring and very long awarding ceremonies.
while moi was too busy to fly to los angeles to personally peruse the dresses that these goddesses opted to wear on that day, thanks to the power of the internet (sadly, i can't say the same about my internet provider smart bro. it's. so. painfully. slow) and i was able to see for myself who have it and who didn't and will never have it.
drum rolls please (a chopin would be nice for a change)..... ladies and pa ladies, here are my most stunning actresses that graced the two thousand and thirteen oscar red carpet.
the moment i saw jennifer lawrence in a pink dior couture, i knew right away that she will own the night. her appearance, dreamy, elegant and youthful, reminded me of gwyneth paltrow fourteen years ago when she wore a pink valentino to accept her first ever (and so far only one) oscar best actress trophy, besting out an outstanding crop that included cate blanchett, fernanda montenegro, meryl streep.
while i was rooting for jessica chastain and emmanuelle riva to win, i was happy for jennifer, who showed much promise when she essayed the role of a young daughter searching for her father's dead body in winter's bone, a role that won her an academy nomination. what can i say? i am old school. i can't take a romcom as a serious contender for an oscar. come on.
but when jennifer appeared on the red carpet in a relaxed, breezy demeanor that reminded us of the glamour of old hollywood goddesses like audrey hepburn, i knew that this is going to be her night, her coronation. the new queen has arrived.
and so she won, even falling down on her knees (she blamed the elaborate dress) before finally taking hold of the much coveted best actress statuette.
don't get me wrong please. as i mentioned earlier, i like jennifer when i saw her in winter's bone. but i just don't think that her performance in the hit romcom deserves to win. no chos this time.
her red carpet look, though, is one big winner!

surely, she had disappointed not a few fans in some of her acceptance speeches for winning best supporting actress in les miserables. but let's cut her some slack, shall we? anne hathaway had delivered what her role required in the musical, and even more. it's not easy emoting while singing, especially since she was not even a singer to begin with. moreover, she sacrificed her lush, black, shiny hair for the role and even lost some weight for it.
it's a different story though in the red carpet. she never disappoints. anne has been consistently stunning. indeed, the starlet in the princess dairies movie has gone a long, long way.
just like jennifer lawrence, anne looked like she was just having fun at the prom. she is as effortless as jessica chastain when it comes to glamming it up, even if the prada dress looks a bit off.

of course, jessica chastain has wowed hollywood critiques since she appeared in terence malick's the tree of life, the eccentric director's tedious, laborious, slow as a turtle contemplation about life, love, fatherhood and family. a relative new comer in the game just like jennifer, jessica earned her first oscar nomination for best supporting actress in the help in two thousand and twelve, just a year after jennifer was nominated for best actress in winter's bone.
in this year's race, jessica lost to jennifer. but given her youth, adoring fans and enormous talent, it won't be a surprise if there will be more appearances in the red carpet for jessica, whose effortless glamour reminds me of cate blanchett and nicole kidman and who is being compared to the young meryl streep because of her ability to disappear into her characters.

other notable red carpet huggers include:
the red carpet veteran and two time oscar best actress winner showed what glamour is all about. i luv the hair too.
kerry washington is perfect: her height, body, skin tone, hair in that flawless miu miu gown! a real goddess in my book. she really carried herself so well.
that's all! hope you enjoyed watching the oscar telecast. as for moi, i had a difficult time because my internet provider smart bro really sucks big time! i wonder when these telecom companies will shape up and deliver good services to their customers.
